- ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆Getting a driver's licence here is a nightmare, and the staff in that department (a single (1) condescending lady) is not much better. If you want to get a licence, you'll need to show up at 6 or something, because she'll close testing after a certain number of people. Renewing my licence was much easier, and the lady behind the counter (different department, different lady) was very nice.By Flamefiends, May 05, 2017
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆I have been to Athens to get my licence renewed and tags transferred with no issues. Took a 20 year old friend of mine up their to get just an ID card which is in another part of the building where you take your driving test and our experience was down right embarrassing. The two women that run it are totally idiots. First of all they told this 20 year old that he is not an adult and would have to get a signed letter from his mother to get an Alabama ID. Um your wrong it is 19! Secondly they went on to say that I, the one that took him could be a criminal and could be wanting to sell his organs on the black market. Who says that????!!!! Then they started getting loud and made both of us feel like we where criminals. I could go on and on. Yes he had his birth certificate and his social security card. Needless to say we walked out of their and went straight to Decatur and they had him an ID in about 10 minutes. The two women in Athens are a joke. Don't waste your time here!
